New family FAQ
What to expect, what to bring, and how to get involved with Troop 40212.
Getting started
What are Daisy Girl Scouts?
Daisies are Girl Scouts in kindergarten and first grade. Girls build friendships, confidence, kindness, and independence through hands-on activities and small opportunities to lead. Brownies are the next level, for second and third grade.
How do we join Troop 40212?
Register through Girl Scouts of Western Washington and look for Troop 40212. Let a leader know when you have registered so we can share next steps and add you to our troop communications. Create your parent account in the family hub and verify your email so a leader can approve access.
What does it cost?
Annual Girl Scout membership is paid separately through council registration. Troop dues are $50 per girl and help cover supplies, badges, and activities. Uniforms are purchased separately. We will share any outing costs in advance. If cost is a concern, please reach out privately so we can help find options.
Meetings and family participation
When do we meet?
We generally meet every other Wednesday evening. Approved families can find exact dates, times, and locations in the Family Hub calendar. Reach out if you need help connecting with a carpool.
What do the girls do?
Expect a mix of nature walks, planting, art, animals, STEM, museum trips, and community service. We earn Daisy petals and badges along the way. Check the Family Hub calendar for upcoming outings.
Do parents stay? What if we miss something?
Regular meetings are drop-off. Optional weekday or weekend outings may need extra adults or a caregiver to stay, so check each event. Join when you can. Ask a leader about another chance to work on a petal or badge if your Daisy misses an activity.
How can parents help?
Families can rotate through snack and volunteer sign-ups or help with activities, outings, planning, or logistics. Reach out about transportation and we can help coordinate carpools where possible.
How do we get updates and what can we bring for snack?
WhatsApp is our main channel for reminders, updates, and volunteer opportunities. Use the private hub for calendar details and sign-ups. Our troop is nut-free. Check labels and ask a leader privately if you have questions about a snack or an allergy.
Uniforms, petals, and cookies
What uniform do we buy?
Our troop uses the blue Daisy tunic. Start with the tunic and basic insignia, including the flag, council identification, and troop numerals 40212. Ask a leader which pins or tabs you need before buying. The official uniform guide shows where everything goes. Wait to buy earned awards until leaders share the plan.
What is the difference between petals, badges, and fun patches?
The Daisy Promise Center and petals help girls learn the Girl Scout Promise and Law. Badges recognize skills girls practice, such as exploring nature or designing something. Fun patches commemorate experiences and usually go on the back of the tunic. Families can record earned petals and badges in the private hub.
How does cookie season work?
Troop leaders will share timing and instructions before cookie season. Use Digital Cookie and the council process for official orders and payments. The private hub has a place for families to record their own package count and goal.
